Super Meat Boy Vita Limited Run

Limited Run Games placed its PlayStation Vita releases on hold late in 2018, due to low cartridge allocation, but now that hold has come to an end. The cofounder/owner of Limited Run, Josh Fairhurst, took to Twitter to share the good news. In this thread, Fairhurst added that this new batch of cartridges will allow Limited Run to bring its total count of Vita releases up to 100. This means three more Vita games will be released.

Good news – we managed to get enough Vita carts allocated to bring back most of the projects we put on hold! Unfortunately, there are still some killer titles which didn’t happen because of contracts taking too long. That’s a story for another time.

Limited Run Games has announced its remaining slate of limited run physical edition games for PS Vita, which will be sold via the Limited Run Games online store, during its E3 2019 press conference. Jun 11, 2019  Limited Run Games shows the Vita some love as it revives 14 games. Mutant Blobs Attack, Rocketbirds, Super Meat Boy, Metal Slug, Red Faction, Freedom Planet and the big one, Papers. So, did nobody receive Papers, Please or Super Meat Boy for the Vita? I mean, the odds they listed made that seem pretty likely and yet I haven't seen any confirmation that anyone got either of those. Also tagged with one or more of these keywords: limited run games, omg so rare, ps4, vita.

Additionally, Fairhurst stated the company will get to “raise the print quantity for a few titles,” including Super Meat Boy. This fast-paced, brutally hard platformer is one of the most popular and beloved indie games to date. Originally, it was only going to have 2,000 copies for sale, which Fairhurst said would’ve been a “blood bath.” While there should be plenty more copies of Super Meat Boy made available Limited Run has yet to announce any numbers.

While replying to fans within this thread, Fairhurst also confirmed that Limited Run games will be at E3 2019.

When Limited Run Games announced it was holding its first-ever E3 showcase, many were excited at the prospect of seeing a barrage of new releases for the PlayStation Vita. Thankfully, the company didn’t disappoint, revealing a number of physical releases for the the Sony handheld.

As Limited Run Games has quickly become one of the last champions of the Vita, even as the system (somewhat slowly) heads into the sunset, it’s exciting to know there are even more games on the horizon. From indie darlings like Super Meat Boy and Papers, Please to retro hits like Metal Slug 3, there are plenty of reasons to keep a hold onto your Vita.

Unfortunately, there’s a strong chance that this may be at least the beginning of the end for Limited Run releases for the Vita. With production recently ending on the Vita, there’s no way to tell how much longer we’ll see support for it. And considering how much of a hassle it seemingly was for Limited Run Games to get its hands on Vita carts previously, we could be nearing the end of an era. However, the fact that there are so many physical releases on the horizon is certainly cause for celebration.
